Ginger at ~8 weeks when we found her
It was December of 2006 when my parents called me to tell me there was a puppy asleep on my Dad's shoes outside in their front courtyard, curled up trying to stay warm. We came over and then we saw her - the tiny black body and sad longing face of that little puppy. We brought her inside, bathed her in dog shampoo and flea bath (she was covered in fleas) and wrapped her in a towel and held her by the fire to help her get warm. She was so docile and sweet, my heart just knew I wanted to keep her. To my surprise, Michael tried to convince me that we couldn't take a dog, but I insisted (we were engaged at the time, and I was living alone) that I could handle the responsibility. Michael and Ginger quickly bonded and years later, Ginger is a happy member of our family.
We have always wondered though, what is she? Is she a doberman pinscher? Well, we don't think 100% because her body frame is not quite the same. Well, we hope to find out soon. We purchased a Wisdom Panel today and hope to solve the mystery of what breed Ginger is (or mostly is). We may not take her to the vet until she has to go there for a routine visit (a vet has to draw a blood sample to analyze it for the Wisdom Panel) to be practical with our finances, but someday we will hopefully learn more about our precious Ginger girl.
In other news, Abby turned one year old on Monday! We sang to her and gave her extra treats. I don't think she really had a clue what the big deal was, but it was fun nonetheless.
We also won our softball game last night against the undefeated team with a score of 11-1. We were so excited about it! We realize winning isn't what's important, but it's still something to be happy about. We just have two games left before the playoffs begin.
Have a great 4th of July weekend!
