Poor Wittle Abby...

On Tuesday evening, we won our softball game 18-3. I had a pretty embarrassing fall - like all the way down - as I was running into home. I didn't stretch my quads properly beforehand (I learned my lesson now) and since I was running so hard they got tired and gave out, causing me to just fall down on my chest as I was about 6 feet from the home plate. I got up as quick as I could and made the run. My friend Vicky taped the whole game, which means there is actual evidence of my ego-bruising moment...it would be a shame if something unforeseen might happen to it...

About Abby...Tuesday we noticed a large lump that had appeared suddenly (wasn't there the day before) on the right side of Abby's face/neck, just under her jaw. It was round in shape and about the size of a tennis ball hemisphere. We thought it might just be a swollen lymph node or something, and she was acting 100% normal so we didn't worry too much about it but just decided to keep an eye on it. On Wednesday evening she started acting more tired and not feeling so well, and the lump had spread out more so it wasn't as round in shape but took up more surface area of her jaw/neck. We decided to take her to the vet on Thursday and we found out it was actually an abscess (infection). So they had to cut a small hole to allow it to drain, and put her on antibiotics for 10 days. We have to keep the hole from scabbing over so it can heal from the inside out. I got a little emotional yesterday when we left her at the vet for them to do the procedure...it gave me a taste of what it might feel like to have a child that you have to leave in someone else's hands. I just hope she feels better soon and that this whole thing clears up quickly and as painlessly as possible for her. :)
