We were both blessed to have the whole day of Friday off, which meant we had an extra day to relax, sleep in, and spend a lot of quality time together.
On Thursday evening we took the dogs to the park & played with the "Chuck It" (thanks Schmuckers!!), ate out at On The Border with a giftcard and it was so delicious! We split a chicken enchiladas entree and a sampler appetizer - YUM! Then we played Settlers of Catan with Jonathan & Anna, where Michael won (as usual...grr!) and I lost horribly because luck was not on my side! We then rented two movies (if you're thinking "Wow, that's a lot", just wait until you finish reading) and watched one of them that evening (we watched "Yes Man" starring Jim Carrey - really cute movie).
Friday we slept in, used a coupon for a free Chipotle burrito and split it in addition to splitting the On The Border leftovers for our lunch, and watched the second movie "Body of Lies" starring Leo DiCaprio. It was not that good - too violent & profane for my liking and it had a weak ending in my opinion. We again took the dogs to the park to let them get some energy out. Then Michael studied for several hours while I ran a couple errands and cooked dinner - I made baked chicken tenders (healthier), steamed broccoli, mashed potatoes & gravy, and hot spinach-artichoke dip. After returning the two rentals earlier, we rented "Australia" starring Nicole Kidman and watched it that evening with dinner. It was really good, but longer in length than we were expecting.
Then Saturday we slept in again, then watched "The Hunt For Red October" that we already own as we ate lunch. Really great movie if you haven't ever seen it - Alec Baldwin was really young and just starting out in it. I ran some more errands including buying the week's groceries and we rented Casino Royale, one of the newest 007 movies. We watched it that night with dinner. It was pretty good (Michael would say awesome), but the rental copy skipped a lot, taking away from some of the enjoyment.
Sunday we went to church, ate lunch at my Meemaw's (such good food!!), played Skip-Bo with the family, came home and took the dogs to the park again, and then Michael studied more while I cooked a chicken-rice-veggie crockpot, did chores, and started a puzzle. We rented and watched "Marley & Me" and let me tell you, it was a great movie with a realistic story, but I don't think I could have made it through without our Ginger & Abby snuggling next to us the whole time. (I don't know how people could see it in the theater - the drive home would have made me so anxious to get home & hug on our puppies!) It made me glad that our dogs aren't quite as destructive as Marley, but we could definitely relate to several parts!
In case you lost count, we watched 6 movies over the weekend, 5 of them we rented from Hastings (we love the $2 credit deal Hastings offers!). I just love relaxing weekends I can spend with my hubby!
If you have a minute, please pray for Michael - he has a test today, a test tomorrow, a homework due tomorrow, a project presentation on Thursday, and another homework due Thursday. Thanks and God Bless!
