But now that we are living in a house, we are enjoying starting some new traditions. One of which is reading. Now, this is not really a new activity for me, but Michael has recently decided to join me and has been sucked into the Hunger Games books. (Don't tell me anything about them, I'll be reading them next!) I finished up a two-book series by Karen Kingsbury, and am now almost finished with The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Love that book! One of our favorite evening activities is to lay on the hammock and read together.
We've also been eating a lot...and I do mean a lot of watermelon this summer. I buy one seedless watermelon every week and we end up finishing it within 4 days. I've considered buying two, but would feel strange doing that for just two people in one week. That's one watermelon per person a week, and when looking at the size of it in the bins at the store, I just keep picturing how one whole watermelon would be consumed by me alone in a week, so I just buy one, lol.

Another tradition we've started is getting sucked into reality tv shows. During the rest of the year, we only watch tv drama shows like Awake or Revenge, but summer seems to be when reality shows are prevalent. So we have been watching America's Got Talent and our favorite, Masterchef. The fun tradition about this summer is that we can get FOX channel over the air, thanks to the antennae Michael built a few years ago, so we can watch Masterchef "live" instead of waiting for it to post on Hulu the next day. We also just bought the first four seasons of The Big Bang Theory...seriously one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. Maybe it's because we are such nerds too?
With summertime also comes stormy weather. A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of seeing a rainbow after an afternoon shower.

Over Father's Day weekend, the Cherrys stayed with us for one night so they could dedicate their baby, Jaythan, at Grace Bible Church. We greatly enjoyed visiting with them and seeing all the cute expressions Jaythan makes.

Then of course we always have our silly pet crew to entertain us, no matter what time of year it is. Every morning (and evening, but this behavior is most evident in the morning) we portion out each of the five pets' food for their morning meal. The way it goes down is we allow our dogs in our bedroom while we sleep at night, then we all exit the room in the morning when we've gotten dressed, and then let the dogs outside on our way to the garage to portion out the pet food. This results in the dogs, most especially Ginger, pressing her face up against the glass door, desperately trying to peer through the cracks in the blinds, as if that will help her receive her meal sooner. She also steps up and down with her front paws on the base of the door frame because she's realized it makes a slight clicking noise that we can hear...just to make sure we're preparing her food and have not forgotten about her.

And here are some other recent pictures of our pets, less Hershey who did not want to participate in the photo shoot. Such a drama cat.
