Why the title about a laundry hamper? Well, this goes back to when we were in the floorplan planning stage before closing on the construction loan - we were deciding how to layout the master closet. More specifically, what types of storage to have and where: shelves, drawers, etc. At one time, we considered having a laundry hamper built in the closet, but we didn't like that idea. At that time, we finalized our closet layout and just thought we might do a hamper in the linen cabinets that are in the master bathroom, next to the shower and tub.
Well, two weeks ago, we realized that the time for finalizing the details of this hamper was quickly approaching because the cabinet guy was expected soon. You may think that deciding on a laundry hamper cabinet is a simple task. Perhaps it is, but apparently not for the Yagers. Discussion after discussion after
After agreeing on how wide, how tall, do we make a pre-set cavity to hold the hampers or just leave it open, Michael thought it would be a neat feature (and I agree) if the side walls of the drawer could flip down so you can easily retrieve the full baskets. Buy hinges and clasps at Lowes? Check! Purchase special order 36" ball-bearing drawer glides? Check!
After several meetings with Jason and the cabinet guy, we think we have everyone on board and have already provided the laundry baskets so they make sure it all fits. Below is a very detailed drawing that my brilliant husband made of it!
You may not be able to read it, but it will, by golly, be the coolest laundry hamper on the block! We'll have to post a picture of it when it's all finished. I just wanted you all to know how hard it was...or so you could understand how silly we are, whatever works...Only about 4 weeks left!!
