Every House Needs a Foundation

Wow, it has been a whirlwind! On Friday, July 15th, we closed on the construction loan which allowed the building process to finally begin. Today is Wednesday, July 27th. Here's what has happened so far:

*Monday, July 18th: cleared the lot
*Tuesday, July 19th: leveled the lot and put up form boards (that will hold the shape of the foundation)
*Wednesday, July 20th: plumbing
*Thursday, July 21st: dug trenches
*Friday, July 22nd: treated for termite prevention and laid down plastic and re-bar
*Saturday, July 23rd: finished re-bar; we personally spread mulch around the back cluster of trees - hot day!
*Sunday, July 24th: day of rest!
*Monday, July 25th: prepped for foundation pouring (more form boards to hold shapes of porches)

*Wednesday, July 27th: dry time for the foundation

We have been told that external wall framing will begin tomorrow through Monday, and then beginning early next week they will frame the interior walls! We received a lovely idea from a couple at church to write scripture on the wall frames as a way of dedicating the home to the Lord - we've been writing a list of scripture and song verses we'd like to write. Your thoughts are welcome on this if you would like to contribute!

And in Yager crazy form, we have already purchased some good deals on furniture from Craigslist...even though we still only live in a one bedroom apartment. We bought two barstools that were a great deal. Then we bought a dining table that extends to seat 8 people (came with only 6 chairs though). Gotta jump on those good deals when you see them! So if anyone needs to buy an all-wood antique dining table with 4 chairs, give us a call...we'd love to not have it take up the entire living room downstairs :)

Today we locked in the interest rate for the permanent mortgage loan since the lender advised that rates may rise soon. So that means that as long as we close within 4 months from now (which our builder feels more than comfortable with), our interest rate will be 4.75% with a free float-down option if rates drop between now and closing.

We are just so thankful that the Lord has allowed us to be at this point in our lives of building a home. He has been active throughout this whole process and we are so very thankful. This home is definitely the Lord's first, and then ours second.
