The next day (on New Year's Day), we ate lunch at Michael's mom's (delicious!), and then dinner at my Meemaw's with my parents and Michael's mom. Two huge meals in one day = two stuffed Yager bellies! It was a great day of quality time with family.
As you know, a decade has also elapsed since the year 2000. Michael and I were talking one night about how much has changed for us in the past 10 years. We thought we'd share some of the major events:
For Michael:
- Moved to College Station
- His mother was diagnosed with and survived cancer
- Had a rough time in high school dealing with the struggles in life
- Accepted Christ as his Savior, thanks to an amazing couple!
- Began learning the basics of Christianity and the Bible
- Graduated high school
- Moved out on his own
- Met his future wife & fell in love
- Got accepted into A&M
- Found an amazing church, Grace Bible
- Got married!
- Met amazing friends through Sunday School
- Got two dogs
- Learned so much academically and enjoyed applying that knowledge in several student job positions and scholarships/fellowships
- Graduated with bachelors and masters degrees in 5 years
For Christine:
- Accepted Christ as my Savior and finally understood that I am only saved through faith in Christ alone, not based on my own self-efforts
- Got my first car, Yukie (black '92 GMC Yukon)
- Graduated fourth in my class in high school
- Got accepted to A&M and began in the fall of '03
- Tried out for and was accepted onto the A&M Equestrian Team...even though I never competed, it was a really great 2 years!
- Met my amazing future husband at the perfect time in my life
- Grew closer to God through a wise woman, bible studies, and relationship with Michael
- Served as President of Alpha Pi Mu for a year, the Industrial Engineering Honor Society at A&M
- Got dog #1, the Ginginator
- Started as a student worker at TTI
- Got a 4.0 in-major GPA
- Graduated with a bachelors degree
- Got married a week later!
- Joined the best Sunday School class ever and met incredible friends as a result!
- Worked as a grad student worker at TTI
- Moved into an apartment of our own
- Got dog #2, Abigail von Yager
- Graduated with a masters degree
- Hired as a temp full-time worker at TTI
- Hired as a permanent full-time worker at TTI in my #1 dream group, Human Factors
