Sweet Fall

We've been enjoying the cool weather, time together, and life at home!

With the cooler weather coming soon, we knew our tomato plants would not survive, so we uprooted them to plant our fall garden. But this shows how massive the plant got over the summer!

Our fall garden of nothing but delicious lacinato kale...yum!

We also planted an herb garden with thyme (which we had over the summer and just transplanted it to this garden), spinach, and chives. We're also growing spinach, chives, and oregano in pots. The chicken wire is to protect it from the dogs trampling it. :)

Ginger can get really goofy sometimes when she plays with Michael. He will pretend to growl at her, which she reciprocates, then he tells her to give him a kiss and she kisses while simultaneously growling. She makes us laugh so much!

This is evidence that our oldest pet child, Hershey (14.5 years old), still loves to play like a kitten. For whatever reason, the cat toys are not good enough for her. She prefers the dog toys instead.

At the end of October, we had the pleasure of attending a Marriage Encounter weekend. It was an incredible experience and a true blessing to our marriage. We highly recommend that all married couples attend this event (they offer it in cities nationwide, check the website for nearest location). The out of pocket cost was $75, and that included a 2-night hotel stay plus all meals. (They were wonderful in accommodating our special diet.) The way they structure the weekend really helps to build intimacy between you and your spouse, and they provide wonderful communication tools. I don't want to share too much and spoil any of the surprises, but if you value your marriage (even if you think you've got a good marriage already), it is worth the commitment to spend a weekend solely devoted to quality time together. And it's not just me who feels this way - Michael loved it every bit as much as I did and really appreciated the way it wasn't a "kumbaya" sort of thing. It was casual and private, with social interactions only at meal time together. We loved it!
