Celebratory May

May is always a busy month for us, even though we're both no longer students:

May 13 -- Michael's Birthday (Turned 26!)
May 14 -- My Meemaw's Birthday (She turned 92 this year!)
May 19 -- Our Wedding Anniversary (5 years!)
Plus -- Mother's Day!

This year we lumped Mother's Day and Birthday celebrations into one evening, then on Michael's actual birthday (which also happened to be Mother's Day this year), Michael just wanted to keep it low-key and spend the day together doing yard work. Yard work is certainly not an activity I would choose to do on my birthday, but hey, it's his day, and that's what he chose to do.

So we ended up planting two baby trees in the land behind our fence (thanks Josh and Amelia!) and so far they look like they're doing okay being transplanted back there. One is looking great, and the other is just okay - starting to turn brown perhaps from the shock of being transplanted.

Then, this past Saturday was our 5-year wedding anniversary. I can't believe it's only been five years - it honestly feels longer. But I guess all that means is that we've grown and learned so much that five years seems a short period of time.

We slept in, ate a nice breakfast, and then ran a couple errands that included: Academy for new shoes and workout clothes, HEB for groceries, and we also managed to stop by the condo that we first lived in together when we got married (also where we spent our wedding night before leaving on the honeymoon). It was neat to walk around that complex and see how much and little things have changed.

We used to enjoy taking Ginger on walks around the complex (she was the only dog we had at the time), and let her off the leash in the pool area (it was fenced) to fetch her tennis ball.

When we lived there five years ago, we went swimming and took "glamor" shots of one another, so it was cute to do that again.

We also carved our initials into the concrete when they were re-surfacing the parking lot. It's a little worn, but it's still there five years later!

We finished the day by relaxing at home and watching The Karate Kid. It's definitely an older movie (80s), but it is still a great, classic film.

But there is still much more cuteness going on in the Yager household...

The cats love basking in the sunlight.

Or just lazing around wherever the mood strikes them.

Even if it's next to a canine member of the family.

This is Ginger's "love" face.

We also have received a lot of rain so far this year, which caused weeds and wildflowers alike to spring up in what felt like a day.

A beautiful Blue Bonnet in our backyard.

Michael and I picked all of these near our house when we hosted Easter lunch.

And due to all the rain, the grass grew so very tall. And since we did not yet own a lawnmower, there was a point where the dogs got to get in touch with their wild side and lay in the grass like lions. Ginger especially had this look often of "Yes, this is my land, as far as I can see..."

And this is what happens when you try to complete a puzzle in a house with two dogs and three cats...you inevitably lose at least one piece, so after all the hours of completing the puzzle you are unable to have the complete satisfaction of placing that last, final piece. :)

Sounds like a fun month! You two are so fun and cute together. Fred's face cracks me up...it looks like he is thinking "Ginger, please leave so I can have all the attention."
