So last night Michael and I were upstairs with the dogs watching a movie. The dogs were in the open area by the door play fighting like usual. But then we heard a weird sound from one of them and we looked over and at first it looked like Abby was seriously attacking Ginger, like biting and thrashing and not letting go of Ginger's neck. We jumped up and started screaming at them to stop, but it continued. I really started freaking out thinking Abby had gone Cujo on Ginger, but then Michael calmed me down and said that Abby is stuck. We got closer and realized that Abby's lower jaw was stuck under Ginger's collar and it had twisted, leaving no breathing room for Ginger. Poor Ginger just looked panicked and Abby was only trying to get free. So we held them both still and tried to quickly release the latch of the collar, but it was too close to Abby's mouth that we couldn't get to it. Michael thankfully somehow freed Abby's jaw from it and thereby allowed Ginger to breathe again. The sound we first heard was Ginger probably trying to call for help. They were both okay afterwards, but I broke into tears, was shaking, and just hugged both of them because that was so scary to me! We plan to leave their collars off unless we're taking them outside to hopefully prevent another accident like that again. Thank you LORD for letting us be there to act quickly and for helping us to free them quickly!!!
